FIREFIGHTERS GRANT
PURPOSE OF GRANT: Firefighters Fund to support the work of the fire companies and departments serving the Punxsutawney community.
AMOUNT OF GRANT: One Grants of $250 will be awarded by The Punxsutawney Area Community Foundation, Inc. in 2025.
ELIGIBILITY: Only fire companies and departments which serve the Punxsutawney area, defined as the Punxsutawney Area School District and the companies which provide back-up service to the Punxsutawney area: Sykesville and Reynoldsville, are eligible to apply for a Firefighters Grant from the Punxsutawney Area Community Foundation, Inc.
USE OF GRANT FUNDS: The funds may be used for equipment, training, maintenance, or recruitment.
• Grant funding may not be used to offset existing or ongoing organizational administrative expenses.
• Proposals which include the following will be given additional consideration:
o Donations of materials or funds from other sources.
o A letter of commitment to provide additional funds must be attached to the grant application.
o Matching funds from the organization, other organizations, or benefactors as shown in the proposed budget for the activity.
o Engagement of high-school or college students in the activity to supplement adult staff and volunteers.
o A cooperative project in which fire companies or departments in the Punxsutawney area may join together to achieve a mutual goal.
• Grant funds may not be used to support or promote fundraising activities, social events, or events involving firearms or alcohol. A volunteer recruiting event would qualify for funding as long as it meets the no firearms or alcohol criteria.
REQUIREMENTS: A one page final report, stating the outcome of the project, containing pictures, and justifying the expense of the project is required not later than September 30, 2023.
TIMELINE FOR GRANT:
• July 1-August 1 2025: Grant applications and required attachments must be mailed to PXYCF, PO Box 663, Punxsutawney, PA 15767 in time to be received not later than 5:00 pm. August 1, 2025.
• August 16, 2025: One Grant of $100 will be awarded.
• September-November 30, 2025: Conduct activity proposed in the application.
• December 19, 2025: A one page final report, which includes pictures and a synopsis of the achievement of the grant, must be mailed to the Punxsutawney Area Community Foundation, Inc., PO Box 663, Punxsutawney, PA 15767
